Igneous Petrology at Occidental College

perpetually excited to do geology

igneous petrology // volcanology // geochemistry

Welcome! Lydia Harmon is an Assistant Professor at Occidental College in the Department of Geology. Our work focuses on the magmatic processes and tectonic influences underlying volcanic eruptions. A combination of petrology, physical volcanology, and thermodynamic modeling lets us reconstruct the pre-eruptive conditions of magma bodies. While individual eruptions are important, our focus is on the general processes that underlie magmatism and volcanism.
